The High Priestess’ Story

There she sat at the entrance of her temple, watching the people pass by her in silence. Occasionally she would draw a stare. It was only nature, she supposed. She wore this paradoxically modest-yet-flowing gown adorned with a conspicuous crown atop her head. She held her book but did not read it. She simply paid attention for whatever time she was there, until she left, and would return to do the same thing tomorrow. There was no being rid of her. She was overlooked yet undeniably a part of the landscape.
