If you have a look in the footer of each page, you’ll see a content license at the bottom. By default, this setting is “All Rights Reserved.” (You can see this one is set to “Not Applicable/Public Domain” because I don’t care about this one—plagiarize away!) However, for the most part, items on my site are licensed under a Creative Commons license. This is generally automatic depending on what folder I put it in, but there are exceptions—and exceptions can be made if these terms do not work for you! (In that case, just email me.)
General Rules
- Scraps don’t have a license, or they’re public domain. This is likely because I’ve only curated material there, but I don’t actually own any of it.
- Scribbles must (per CC BY-NC-SA 4.0): be attributed to me (Author of MyDarkMaterials.ca) and be used for non-commercial purposes. However, you have the right to build on those ideas, adapt them, remix them, whatever.
- Syntheses must (per CC BY-NC-ND 4.0): be attributed to me (Author of MyDarkMaterials.ca) and be used for non-commercial purposes. Unlike scribbles, there are no derivatives allowed, which means if you want to use a character or remix something I’ve said, you have to ask for permission. Basically, don’t fuck with my words, but go ahead and cite them.
- Undertakings are unique in that there is no one license that is their “default setting,” so be sure to pay attention.
Again, if any of these terms don’t work for you, just email me. Chances are I’m happy to let you get on with whatever it is you want to do, and if you want to use it for commercial reasons, I’m more than happy to take your money.
Please note that separate copyright may apply to images or other attachments found on this site. as well as works I’ve cited. My use of them does not constitute any claim of ownership.
