film

This was rather heartwarming in the end. While on the one hand the film shows us the darker side of religious fanaticism and child abuse, it’s also a story about one woman’s coming to terms with her grief and finding a new life. This is the heart of the matter, as I see it. It’s not about Anna, her fast, or if God is real. Instead, the horror lies in religious fervour as a system that can justify child abuse, and the challenges we meet with grief.
